Why You Need a High School Diploma: A Guide for all Struggling Students, with Emphasis on Foster and Juvenile Justice Students

Building a Community of Learners, One Student at a Time

The CTM Academy is a nationally accredited, private, independent school for students grades 7-12. It was formed to serve the unique academic needs of foster youth, juvenile justice youth, and student who require something different from a traditional school. The CTM Academy offers flexible learning options to include virtual instruction, or, in-person instruction is also available and scheduled, when available, by appointment. Moreover, teachers travel within their communities to support learners, when needed. If you're looking for a small, supportive school that does not uphold a one-size-fits-all philosophy, contact us or attend an information meeting so we can answer your questions! The academy also offers accelerated learning for credit deficient upperclass students desperately seeking a high school diploma, who have lost hope of obtaining one due to frequent transitions within foster care, adverse childhood experiences, or other circumstances. In addition, students have access to The CTM Academy food pantry, clothing pantry, and washer/dryer-just bring your clothes!

Now accepting students from all 50 states!

Teach students based on the positive outcome you intend to create, but do not teach them based on their behavior, their past poor choices, or their economic background. If we see the good in them and if we believe in them, they, in turn, will believe in themselves!
Enrollment for the 2025-2026 school year begins NOW, and closes on September 1, 2025, for first semester. If openings still exist after September 1, 2025, rolling enrollment will continue until all seats are filled. Second semester enrollment dates begin November 1, 2025, and ends on January 15, 2026. Again, if openings exist after January 15, 2026, rolling admission will continue until filled. Please be mindful of these dates when considering The CTM Academy as an option. Please contact us for information to determine if this is the right fit for your child.

Our Mission

It is the mission of The CTM Academy to promote equitable education and experiences for all students, while providing appropriate skill-building and enhancing student perspectives, so students can become responsible community members, life-long knowledge seekers, and ultimately, achieve unimagined goals.

Student Learner Outcomes

The CTM Academy would like students to benefit from their time spent at the academy. As such, upon leaving The CTM Academy our students should embody the following outcomes that remain with them. The CTM Academy student learner outcomes are as follows:
  • Students will become self-starters and seek career goals that best service their abilities, interests, and lifestyle
  • Students will gain awareness of entrepreneurial opportunities and continue to seek positive avenues of post-secondary success
  • Students will gain knowledge as to how the world and education are entertwined to make connections between academics and future success
  • Students will become forward thinkers who innovate change within themselves and their communities
The CTM Academy works at the ground level, helping to bring students to academic competency with holistic approaches. Trauma, truancy, homelessness, and instability threaten students' abilities to thrive in a traditional classroom. Moreover, alternative school settings cannot always meet the needs of these unique learners. Even with the best intentions from teachers and social workers, students are still falling through the cracks.
The CTM Academy was formed to meet these unique needs as it creates a specialized learning plan that responds to the mental and social uniqueness of each student, while also addressing the physical symptoms of children in need. Further, staff are trained in trauma infomed education best practices. Also, the teacher to student ratio is 1:1, 1:2, or small group. This recipe of success will eradicate barriers to education and ensure equitable outcomes for uniquely positioned youth. As educators, it is our duty to ensure our teaching instruction is purposeful and effective. Our team of teachers, instructional assistants, and tutors, instill the content and knowledge necessary to gain command of subject material and thrust students to achieve academic goals. The result- a confident student and/or graduate!
